6 Stylish Ways to Display Kids’ Artwork

Sophie Shay | November 2023

Are you drowning in your kids’ artwork? You’re not alone! As precious as every little masterpiece is, it can feel a little unmanageable sometimes! There's artwork pouring in from daycare and school, add to that their homegrown creations, and suddenly, there are heaps and heaps everywhere!

On top of that, the guilt that sets in.. Do I have to keep it all? Do I even want to? Will they even care now or in the future?

You see, my 5-year-old whirlwind of creativity, Thea, is quite the art aficionado. She practically lives at her art station and can whip up masterpieces all day long. I love it, and I'm all in to nurture her artistic spirit (I was a creative kid too!)

With quite a bit of experience on this topic, here are my top 6 stylish ways to display kids' artwork - none of which involves taking over your fridge door! - plus, my #1 tip to let the rest of it go, guilt-free.

1. clips

Simple and easy to use, oversized clips on a wall can be a great way to showcase your kids’ artwork and make use of vertical space in your home! My client loved that these are not just fun to look at, but so practical for holding 2D and 3D pieces of art in all shapes and sizes!

For our client, we used four ledges in the color Walnut to create two continuous rows of artwork display!

2. changeable frames

Don’t be fooled! These look like traditional frames by Opposite Wall but they are designed just for kids’ artwork!

These open up to reveal an elastic strap that holds in other pieces of artwork. When you’re looking to switch things up, just rotate the next piece of artwork into the main frame and enjoy your updated gallery!

3. slide-in frames

These slide-in frames are not only versatile - they can be used for horizontal or vertical artwork - but because of their open frame, kids can easily slide in their favorite artwork into their little gallery, no matter if the masterpiece is 2D or 3D!

Slide-In Artwork Frames: These are ones we’ve used and loved in our home for years! My daughter loves changing out her own favorite artwork.

4. Magnetic frames

This is such an adorable way to display kids’ artwork. It requires a bit of a DIY approach if you want to create the full look. Simply pick out a magnetic white board. Add a cute frame if you’d like (even paint it a fun color if that’s your jam!). Add adorable color-coordinated magnetc. And voila!

5. photobook

If you want to treasure your kids’ artwork through the years without the clutter, Artkive offers beautiful options to turn those masterpieces into keepsake photo books.

6. gift wrapping

‘Tis the Season! As we’re headed for the holiday season (or any special occasion), why not use some of your kids’ beautiful artwork as gift wrapping!

Such an endearing way to delight the gift recipient, and breathe new life into your kids’ artwork!

Let the rest of it go.. Guilt-free!

I want to introduce to you the concept of “Process Art.” It will set you free!

“The act of creating for young children is about the process, not the outcome. Children need to explore, take risks, make their own choices. This is the richness of creativity. This is the groundwork for future problem solvers.”
- Meri Cherry

If you want to foster your child's artistic expression, creating a dedicated space is the best way to encourage your little ones to take control of their creativity - without adult interference or a Pinterest step-by-step guide!

All the skills and benefits that your child gains from their artistic adventures have already been had - through the process itself! It is in the act of creating where the magic and fulfillment happens.

Let your kids explore, experiment, and express themselves without worrying about holding onto every piece of art.
